New Governing Body of Sara Bangla Daba Sangstha

GM DIBYENDU BARUA BECOMES PRESIDENT OF SBDS. "SARA BANGLA DABA SANGSTHA", the apex body of Bengal Chess, conducted its Annual General Meeting and Election of Office Bearers on Saturday, June 18 at Conference Hall, Yuba Bharati Krirangan. 40 representatives from 20 Affiliated District Chess Associations and 15 Governing Body Members attended this A.G.M. The delegates were provided AC Deluxe Rooms, fooding and AC 3-tier Train fare. Everybody was extremely happy with the arrangements of SBDS. They expressed the view that this was the first time that the A.G.M. of the State body was arranged in such a grand manner. In the Election for Office Bearers, all the members unanimously elected Grandmaster and Arjun Awardee Dibyendu Barua as the President of SBDS for the term 2022 to 2026. Not only that, 5 players of this 15-member Committee are National/International Chess Players. Other members too, came from chess community. All the District Chess Associations has become extremely happy to have such a player-friendly Governing Body. They are expecting that under the leadership of Grandmaster Dibyendu Barua. Chess in West Bengal will make remarkable progress. We too believe that with the co-operation and support from the chess fraternity, we will be able to achieve sparkling success.
