Unrecognised Chess Tournament in West Bengal
Date : 17 January, 2025
We find an utterly ridiculous and fraudulent claim by some anti-chess elements that Bengal Chess Association is still an affiliated unit of AICF and it has the right to use the Logo of AICF and FIDE. Everybody knows, Bengal Chess Association was disaffiliated by AICF on the ground of corruption in the year 2021. Since then, SARA BANGLA DABA SANGSTHA is the parent body of chess in West Bengal. We are conducting all State Championships and National Chess Championships allotted by AICF. We are sending West Bengal teams in different National Championships. We are attending all the meetings of AICF with voting rights. In the website of AICF, the name of SBDS is shown as an affiliated State Association of West Bengal. All these bear ample proof that at present, the status of BCA is not above a local club. The disaffiliation of BCA was done in an unanimous resolution passed at the Annual General Meeting of AICF as per its rules and regulations. BCA has been trying to challenge this decision through a number of court cases during the last 3 years, but all in vain. Under this situation, if anybody thinks that BCA is still an affiliated unit of AICF, he is living in fools paradise. It is worth mentioning here that the former Secretary of BCA was suspended by AICF with the charges of corruption, forgery and many other illegal activities and an arrest warrant was issued against him. However, it seems that he is not repentant for his past deeds which is evident from his present activities. Last, but not the least, it was AICF, which made a notification prohibiting use of AICF and FIDE Logo without their permission to do so.
